Kupenda Social Care, aims to support young people in their transition from childhood to adulthood –
‘Bridging skills to full independence’ by helping Local Authorities to meet their obligations, particularly
to ‘Looked After’ children in their area.
At Kupenda social care, we work hard to support young people who have been in the care system, in their personal
journey from childhood to adulthood – We help young people that stay with us, develop independent living skills and help
Local Authorities to meet their statutory obligations,to ‘Looked After’ children.
Kupenda specialises in providing support to young people: leaving secure/residential settings, leaving transitional services
and leaving emergency placements.
At Kupenda, we have a philosophy, of centering ourselves on assisting young people, and taking into account their
challenges.
•
We never abandon or ‘turn our backs on’ young people
•
We can consider discounts for dual/multiple occupancy
•
We offer flexibility on any notice period from local authorities to end placements.
Kupenda has a robust track record managing and accommodating the most ‘at risk’ / challenging / offending/ complex
young people
Our homes provide holistic, and supportive environments for young people. We offer privacy, personal space, respect and
optimal staffing levels, that are focussed on supporting young people to achieve their potential, in spite of any
challenges, which is done through 1 to 1 work, and even 2 to 1 work if required.
•
Kupenda homes are clean, subject to quality assurance and well equipped.
•
Young people have a key to the front door and they also have a lockable, single bedroom.
•
Out of hours, we provide local, 24/7 ‘on-call’ emergency response services staffed by managers. Our teams can
respond quickly to the service needs and are very experienced in working closely with Emergency Duty Teams. We can
take emergency/short notice admissions as our staff are skilled and experienced in making the transition easy for
young people who are have come from secure environments, placement breakdowns in other provisions, or when
emergency safeguarding situations arise, or there is an urgent need to relocate.
On arrival to any of our homes, young people are provided with a Welcome pack and are inducted into our service, where
they will be informed of house rules, personal conduct rules, emergency contacts, evacuation and safety procedures. We
believe that young people should “feel at home”,and we have staff that will assist them, in purchasing home decor, to
help personalise their space, which will provide them with a sense of personal investment and ownership. You can learn

“I was very unhappy living with my mum. She was a drinker, and let alot of things happen that she should’nt have.
I saw her get used, I saw her let men use my older sister growing up. I saw alot of drugs, I saw the worst of people.
I have grown up, not being able to trust people, and coming out of care, I learned not to trust. When i got referred
to Kupenda accomodation, I was allowed to be myself. Yes I gave a hard time to staff at first, but they never ever
got angry. They showed me trust, and after a while, I learned to trust the staff. They showed me nothing, but respect,
and support, and they have changed my life.”

“I have been given a new chance at life. I could not believe that the accomodation was so clean. That was the first
thing I noticed. The staff were very….warm, very interested in supporting me, but they gave me the space I needed.
When i needed help, or just needed to talk, I was able to get the support I needed. I have been helped in getting into
an apprenticeship as a makeup artist. I never thought, this would happen for me to be honest, and i am very happy with
the way my life is going.”

“I am really happy with the accomomodation that I was placed in with Kupenda. The staff and the accomodation, have
saved my life. My life was hell, I literally, was in hell, for most of my life. Coming to Kupenda, has made me feel
welcome, respected and supported. My keyworker is amazing, and she has given me so much confidence in myself. She
has helped me get rid of my feelings of wanting to hurt myself, and always telling myself that I was not worth anything.
They are helping me with learning interview skills, they helped me with a CV, and have a job now in a large hotel, and
am going to college 3 days a week. Things are just working out now, and I thank all the guys at Kupenda.”

“What a happy experience. I can say that my life became better from the first day that I was in the Kupenda
accomodation. The “happy house” we called it when I was there. The staff really cared.
They actually gave a s**t about how I felt. The staff helped me grow as a person. I now have my own flat, I work
in admin, and I am working to get into IT. I can see my future looking brighter, and that would not have happened,
if I did not get to live in Kupenda accomodation.”
