At Kupenda social care, we understand, that there may be situations, when local authorities and care providers,will wish to draw on an expert’s knowledge in relating to children or adults that have accessed local authority assistance/ support, and their performance of their duty. We can help you to assess your current performance, and to develop and deliver improvement plans, to assist your services to be safe, effective, caring, analytical, responsive and well-led. Our consulting, and support service is one way in which authorities can enhance good practice, and develop front line staff. Our experts have a plethora of experiences in working with children and adults, due to long standing employment, within Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, elderly and Community Learning Disability/Mental Health teams, sometimes alongside their independent work. Kupenda, helps social care providers to correctly prepare for a Care Quality Commission inspection, and to respond to a poor rating. Our focus is on the safeguarding of recipients of care, and as such, we ensure that we look at ways in which those organisations that have recieved a poor rating, can be turned around. Safeguarding is literally a matter of life and death, and we are fully aware of this in every piece project that we undertake.We work with care providers, to develop and deliver their improvement plans – prior to or after inspection, depending on what is asked of us. The improvement plan may be for an individual service, or it may have implications and benefits for an entire care group.We tailor the support package to each care providers’ requirements. For example, we help with: Kupenda staff review and update your policies and procedures in line with CQC and Care Act requirements. For instance we can review safeguarding; decision making (MCA); DoLS; whistleblowing; complaints; behaviour and physical interventions; and codes of practice for staff and volunteers. Kupenda staff will evaluate care services, in an experiential manner, and this includes carrying out in depth interviews, and workshops with staff and clients, and provide extensive reports on our findings. These reports contain actionable tasks, for the service provider to carry out, that will enhance overall service delivery. Kupenda staff review care providers safeguarding policies and procedures, including the criteria for what constitutes an alert, processes for reporting issues, review of “near misses”, and what steps if any, have been taken as a result of previous safeguarding reports. We recommend or draft changes to policies, procedures and practice, and also help to establish lead roles for safeguarding, in addition to internal safeguarding adults boards where required. We review care plans to check for a focus on personalisation, and check that plans are used, and regularly reviewed and updated. We review personnel files to check that there was sufficient evidence to appoint, plus we can review the recruitment process for volunteers. Recommendations: We present recommendations to senior managers, chairs and trustees as a written report with clear actions and review process
